TWO CABINS

The first cabin is a 24 X 32 vertical log cabin. This includes an 8 X 24 screened porch with sweeping views of the lake. 2 first floor bedrooms and 2 sleeping lofts separated by a cat walk will provide plenty of space for friends and family. The kitchen, dining and living area are one open space comfortably heated with a wood burning stove. A bathroom is centrally located on the first floor.

The second cabin is a 20 X 32 stick built which includes an 8 X 20 screened porch, also with great lake views. This cabin has a kitchen, bath and living room on the first floor with 2 bedrooms and a central room for extra beds or use it for a quiet place for reading upstairs.

Both cabins set on their combined lots of 1.5 +/- acres with 306 +/- feet of frontage on Big Lake. The land rises gently from the lakeshore to the cabins. Large pine and other trees dot the property with little ground cover obscuring the great views of the lake.

BIG LAKE

Big Lake is in the top 20 list of the largest lakes in the state of Maine. That is no small feat in a state with approximately 6,000 lakes. The surface area of the lake is about 10,300 acres with depths to 70 feet. Miles of undeveloped shoreline and nearly 30 islands make this one of downeast Maine’s most interesting freshwater fisheries. The primary game fish include landlocked salmon and smallmouth bass along with most of the other fish species native to Maine.

LOCATION

This part of Washington County includes a collection of lands with various conservation easements. These include the Downeast Lakes Land Trust, The Sunrise Tree Farm Easement and several others conserving more than 300,000 acres surrounding Big Lake. Much of this area is open to the public by the private land owners for outdoor recreation.

The cabins are located at the end of Crockett Point Road in Big Lake Township. From here it is just over 8 miles to the nearest service town of Princeton Maine. There you will find a grocery store, gas, municipal airport, banking, health clinic and a few small shops. The city of Calais is 28 miles from the cabins where you will find the nearest hospital, restaurants, large stores and shops. This is a border town with NB Canada set on the St. Croix River leading to Passamaquoddy Bay. Bangor International Airport is located 90 miles southwest of the property.
