Christmas Tree Farm Country Home Site | Maine Real Estate

Lot 45B Michael Lajoie Road Cyr Plt ME 04785
Sold

MLS Number 1404972

  • Land
  • MLS Status Closed
  • Acreage 80

The Christmas Tree Farm Country Home Site in Cyr Plantation, Maine has the potential to be a very private, yet accessible location for a residential home or recreational cabin.  The 80 +- acres of well drained farm soils were planted with fir trees as a crop about 20 years ago, and the trees that remain are going to be a harvestable crop for stud wood or pulp in another 20 +- years.  The long rows of evenly planted trees would provide privacy should you chose to locate your home away from the road nestled amongst tall fir trees.  The property is readily accessible from Route 1, yet private.  The road onto the property, is a town-maintained road during the summer months.  This is an ideal off-grid, private home site.  From the height of the property the ability to obtain panoramic views of the St. John Valley can be had as well as perfect solar orientation for that off-grid home.  The farm roads through the fir plantation would provide hiking, biking and walking opportunities where sightings of grouse, deer and moose will be common place.  This is an excellent opportunity to obtain an accessible, private, well wooded parcel with farm class soils that has scenic views, privacy and abundant wildlife at a great price.  Call today to request a personal viewing of the Christmas Tree Farm Home Site.   Water Features There is a small unnamed tributary to the St. John River that runs through a portion of the property.  The St. John River, Long Lake, numerous trout streams can all be accessed from the property just minutes away.  There is a small portion of the acreage that has wet soils, and the spring water in that area may allow construction of your own farm pond. Land Features The 80+- acres of Christmas Tree Farm Country Home Site have farm class soils that grow everything well, including the softwood timber that is well stocked throughout the acreage.  With work, the old farm fields could be reclaimed by harvesting the fir trees and removing the stumps.  The gently rolling terrain of the parcel has opportunities for home sites, food plots and hiking trails.  There may be enough cleared area to have a pasture for a horse or two, and the trails through the fir forest would provide pleasant riding for you and your horse.   Cyr Plantation Area Cyr Plantation is located in northern Aroostook County near the border crossing community of Van Buren.  The population of this lightly populated area was 117 in 2010.  The area is farm and forest land, with a rich Acadian heritage.  The area is blessed with four seasons to enjoy.  Winter is the longest season so winter sports and recreation make this a destination for snow mobile enthusiasts as well as dog team racers and biathletes.  Spring, summer and fall are especially beautiful times to live in northern Aroostook County.  The numerous lakes, rivers, streams and ponds are frequently visited by fishing enthusiasts in pursuit of Maine’s cold water species of salmon and trout.  The waters of the St. John River have a growing population of muskellunge, and the annual Musky Derby in nearby Fort Kent has fisherman from across the country competing for tens of thousands of dollars in prizes for winning anglers. ATV enthusiasts have a vast trail network throughout Aroostook County to explore.  Most of the communities in this area have made allowances to welcome riders into the business areas to reach dining, fuel and other businesses.  The vast tracts of timberland, farm fields, rolling hills and breathtaking vistas are waiting for you to come and explore.  Hunting for large whitetail bucks and numerous grouse in countless covers can fill your autumn calendar. Shopping opportunities are available on both sides of the border.  Nearby Presque Isle has its Aroostook Centre Mall and across the border in Edmunston, NB Canada you can find the Madawaska Centre. Healthcare is found at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle as well as the Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent.  Higher education is available at the University of Maine campuses in both Presque Isle and Fort Kent.  Come home to Cyr Plantation where you can live, work, learn and play.

Remote Off-Grid Lakefront Cabin for Sale in Maine

Sold

MLS Number 1418112

Looking for a remote place in the Maine woods? This rustic log cabin on Brandy Pond in the unorganized territories of Hancock County Maine has a big sand beach and over 1,400 feet of lake frontage. This property is special because of the incredible 14.5 +/- acre lot. The frontage has sand beach and rocky shoreline for 1,400 +/- feet. The land is mostly level with the height of land being the cabin site. Softwood trees predominate the land with large white and red pine, spruce and huge hemlock trees. The old growth trees are a pleasure to walk through with little brush under a canopy of maturing trees. A walking or ATV trail leads from the cabin through the woods and along the shore terminating on the edge of the confluence of Runt Brook and Brandy Pond. The old log cabin rustically built on site needs a lot of TLC with time starting to wear on the logs nearest the ground. It has some good bones though with concrete footings and a wood and metal roof structure that appears to be solid. We believe this is a structure worth salvaging for its good space, historic design and the sporting heritage that has been lived here. The cabin is approximately 1,200 square feet and appears to have been built in 3 sections over time. The center section looks to be the oldest with a large living room space that doubles as extra sleeping area. It has a large wood stove and kerosene heater. A ¼ loft has a water storage tank and offers plenty of storage space for extra gear. The kitchen is a large open room and has a refrigerator and wood cook stove that also helps to heat the space. A large bedroom is alone on one end of the cabin and is adjacent to the full bath. This part of the cabin is on a foundation of poured concrete, concrete block and dirt floor and is the newest part of the cabin. A separate log constructed shed houses ATV’s, boats, firewood and other tools.  Brandy Pond is a warm water fishery of 733 +/- surface acres with over 5 miles of shoreline and depths to 24 feet. The pond is round with a distinct large island in its center. The property has great views of the pond and island. On our recent visit to the pond we saw many wading birds and ducks, lots of moose sign near the pond and along Runt Brook that makes up part of the western bounds of the property. Most of the pond shoreline is undeveloped with most camps being located on the eastern shore a great distance from this property. This part of Hancock County is very remote and accessed either from Rte 9 via the Stud Mill Road or from the north through Grand Falls Township and the working forests around Nicatous and West Lake. This is an area protected by Lands For Maine’s Future with conservation easements and public reserve lands totalling more than 50,000 acres. It is a true outdoor recreation paradise. Many lakes, ponds, rivers and streams are available for exploration. The interconnected ATV and snowmobile trails provide access to most of eastern Maine. Bangor Maine is the nearest city and is approximately 45 miles from the lot. Need to see more? Cal today to schedule a trip to this undiscovered area. Log Cabin on Sandy Beach. For those that like privacy you need to see this 14+/-acres with 1,400+/- feet of frontage on beautiful Brandy Pond in T39 MD NBPP in the Maine unorganized territories. Big sand beach is the highlight of the waterfront along with extensive frontage on Runt Brook. A rustic built log cabin has about 1,200 square feet of space plus a separate log workshop/bunk house for more storage or guests. Brandy Pond is 723 surface acres with an average depth of approximately 10 feet with maximum depth of 24 feet. This is a warm water pond and fishery that is perfect for swimming, boating and fishing. The remote location of this camp is surrounded by tens of thousands of working forests; most of which is open to the public. Come explore the woods and many waters surrounding this property. Call today, but don't do a drive by as you probably won't find it.

When you walk into the grand foyer, you know immediately that this is not a typical 1900’s Victorian.  While the original structure is there, the inside has been remodeled with a very contemporary look.  Granite counters, tile floors, center-island with a prep-sink, stainless steel appliances and Cherrywood cabinet adorn the kitchen.  One step up and you are in the formal dining room with patio doors leading to the back lawn. A family room with gas fireplace, formal living room with wood fireplace and of course the informal foyer and first floor bath complete this level.    This circa 1900 Victorian with wrap-around Veranda was renovated and remodeled for ease of maintenance and maximum enjoyment.  The upscale appliances, tile and wood floors, Master Bedroom en suite spa-like bath and more are just a sampling of the masterfully crafted renovations.  The home sits on .98 acres with approximately 198’ on pristine Johnson’s Bay.  The Master Bedroom suite has French Doors leading to a balcony for great sunset viewing.  Banked on each side of the French Doors are large windows so when the weather is not cooperative, you can enjoy the views from the comfort of your bedroom.  A must see for the discerning home buyer.   Lubec   Located on the edge of “downtown”, it is an easy walk to the grocery store, neighborhood restaurant and other town services.  Lubec is a small fishing village with a population of around 1,300, but swells to much more in the summer time with seasonal residents and tourists alike. The town is located along the bold coast of Maine and is surrounded by 90 miles of shorefront.  It is the most easterly town in the U.S. and greets the sun first in the nation each morning.  West Quoddy Head Light House stands tall on the most easterly point in the U.S. directing Mariners safely home after a long day on the waters.  This small town offers over 4,000 acres of conservation lands open to the public.  From biking to hiking and everything in-between.  Grab your kayak and launch it in Straight Bay or Federal Harbor and explore the inner bays with the ebb and flow of the tides, run the trails at West Quoddy State Park or hike to the bold waterfront of Hamilton Cove.  If you like ATV riding, check out the Sunrise Trails just a 20 min. drive to Whiting to connect to the trails.  Something for everyone. Lubec – the way life IS!
