On our recent visit to the pond we saw many wading birds and ducks, lots of moose sign near the pond and along Runt Brook that makes up part of the western bounds of the property. Most of the pond shoreline is undeveloped with most camps being located on the eastern shore a great distance from this property. This part of Hancock County is very remote and accessed either from Rte 9 via the Stud Mill Road or from the north through Grand Falls Township and the working forests around Nicatous and West Lake. This is an area protected by Lands For Maine’s Future with conservation easements and public reserve lands totalling more than 50,000 acres. It is a true outdoor recreation paradise. Many lakes, ponds, rivers and streams are available for exploration. The interconnected ATV and snowmobile trails provide access to most of eastern Maine.
