Commercial fishing, blueberry harvesting, and wreath making are industries that survive well here. Fishermen bring in their catches of scallops, crab, urchins, elvers, clams, wrinkles, halibut and more to buyers on the dock or shops. Blueberry raking is now taken over by mostly machinery. However, there are still some hand rakers. Wreath makers work the early winter months making Christmas wreaths in their homes of shops throughout the community for the annual season.

Crafters are many. Especially during the summer months. Craft fairs are plentiful and a great way to promote your wares. Several small shops dot the landscape on Water Street. Classes in painting, wool spinning, pottery and much more are often available throughout the year.
